Basic club information
- 01We are Division 21, the bumble bees! We have 13 schools in our district: ARCHBISHOP MURPHY, EDMONDS WOODWAY, GLACIER PEAK, JACKSON, KAMIAK, LAKE STEVENS, LYNNWOOD, MARINER, MEADOWDALE, MONROE, MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, SNOHOMISH, NORTH CREEK
- 02Our slogan is "caring our way of life". Yes, being an active key club member looks really good on college applications, but our fundamental achievement is to give back to our communities. This year (2018-2019) we were able to raise over $40,000 for the thirst project, which provides clean water for countries that need it. Through volunteering you will also gain many memorable experiences, and skills that can improve yourself as a person. Additionally key clubbers develop leadership skills through service. As a key clubber you are contributing to making the world a better place ♡
- 03• attend club meetings • volunteer • help raise money • attend intersocials/DCM's • interact with other keyclubbers through out PNW • If you meet requiements - attend DCON
- 04All you have to do is have asb and pay the keyclub due (15$) and then we can register you as an official key clubber, and you can start attending meetings and our volunteer events! Contact Mr.Bayles or any officer for any questions! Scott Bayles BaylesSR@mukilteo.wednet.edu
- 052020-2021 dues have all been paid by the school. You do not have to pay for dues this year! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To be a mariner keyclubber, you have to have asb, and a $15 fee (go to the book keeper to pay these!). Remember fee's help support our club funds. If you need finiancial assistance, don't be afraid to talk to Mr. Bayles or the book keeper!
- 06The 2020-2021 Key Club meetings are virtual! Check the calendar and/or instagram page @pnwmarinerkeyclub for meeting dates and times. Click here to join Key Club meetings!(https://mukilteoschools-org.zoom.us/j/99416094609) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Meetings are typically held the 1st, and 3rd monday of each month in E271. They're usually from 2:15-2:45. If we reschedule a meeting then look out on the morning intercom. DO NOT rely on the intercom for meeting dates! To be an active key club member we higly reccomend you attend most meetings! We also post on our remind @marinerkk when a meeting is coming up/ events.
- 07Our board understands that many of you are busy with homework, sports, and other activities, but we higly reccomend you attend the meetings. Attendance is crucial to recognize you as an active key clubber. Yes, you can hear about volunteer events by friends and media, but coming to the meetings helps give you extra info about these events and builds a stronger bond with other members. If you want to run for an office position in Key Club, it is important that you show up.
- 08Yes, of course! We understand that everyone has their own schedule and priorites. We value the fact you are able to show up to the meetings despite your busy occupations, and are completely flexible with your time. Just be sure to exit the room quietly!
- 09You can either wait till the meeting is done and fill out the sign up sheets, or if there is an online forum, it will be linked in the calender page with the event. You can also press -> Volunteer! (javascript:void(0))
- 10Even if you are not a key clubber you are always welcome to volunteer and attend our meetings! But we can not record your hours.
- 11You are required to have at least 40 hours by the end of the year. 10 being key club hours (events that were promoted by our club). The rest can be other volunteer events (ex. at church, volunteering for a pet shelter, helping events for other clubs etc.). As a guide line, each quarter we want you to have 10 hrs, but its fine if you don't meet that deadline.
- 12Yes, we would love it if you got 10 or more hours per quarter, but if you do not meet this expectation it does not affect your position in our club. Many think that if they do not meet this they are "kicked off". You can still attend club meetings, and volunteer for the events we promote. If you ever need more assistance to get more hours, feel free to contact any of our club officers (see about us page)!
- 13For the 2020-2021 school year, turn in your hour logs through the Key Club google classroom!(https://classroom.google.com/c/MTk3NDkzNzIxNTgz?cjc=vpdhe3w) Make sure to provide screenshots if you are doing online volunteerwork :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You turn them in the bin near the Key Club banner in Bayles' room E271 OR to one of the secretaries (Danna & Dennese). You can even take a clear picture of your log, and send it through their social media. Hour logs are due every quarter, or as soon as you have 10 hours!
- 14The secretaries records everyone's hours on a spread sheet, which helps us recognize your activeness. Your hours allows you to earn awards, recognition, and scholarships.
- 15In ordering to run for office you must collect a sign up form from Bayles. Office elections typically take place early spring. The positions are: • President(s) • Vice President (must be a 9th or 10th grader) • Secretary and Co-Secretary • Treasurer • Bulletin All officers must be committed to club meetings, and are required to attend DCON (which costs $). You will have time to prepare for questions, and make a speech for elections. If you have any questions about the roles of specific positions, feel free to contact the officer of that position! Additionally, you may run for a higher up position such as LTG of d21, which takes place in Januaury or a district level position. (Talk to our officers for more info, and check out the PNW Key Club website: https://www.pnwkeyclub.org/district-board-2018-2019) https://static.wixstatic.com/media/undefined
